thusspakekate replied to your post: So my cousin just got into an Ivy League Grad School.
If it makes you feel better, Vanderbilt isn’t actually an Ivy League school. It’s informally called one of the “Southern Ivies” and is a very good school, but its not in the Ivy League.
Well, that’s somewhat comforting. At least she’s not going to Princeton, Harvard, Yale, or Oxford or something along those lines… I mean, regardless of where, I’m still happy for her. I love her to death. But to my family, she’s turned into the golden child: the perfect scholar that is going to go so far. She’s the only one in our generation to attend grad school and everyone is swooning all over her. They consider it an Ivy League, whether it is officially or not…mostly since it is a “Southern Ivy” and we’re all from the south on that side of the family. Really, that’s all they care about.
Let’s just say that is the rich half of my family and they all went to grad school, my parents included. Her father is a state prosecuting attorney. Needless to say, they are all investing everything in the golden child that is actually doing something “advanced” with her life, as opposed to the rest of us that have either settled down or are simply wasting time, space, and money (namely, myself).
All the awesome bitches were born on November 3rd.
HAVE A VERY DRARRY BIRTHDAY, LADIES!
Happy Birthday to you too bb!

I would’ve reblogged, but it’s an ask response… And I would have screen capped, but it’s just too damn long for that, so I’ll just link because it’s brilliant and I appreciate it and the author who formulated this response.
